Santa Fe

Our home from 4/24-5/7/2017
What a pleasant experience. Mary and I have really fallen in love with this park, this area, and more specifically Santa Fe. It was 2 of the best weeks that we have spent. A quick view of the park......

Our spot D13

A view to the north to Baldy Mtn and the Sangre de Cristo Range

The views here were awesome

Friday and on in to Saturday of our first week, we had an experience that we had thought we had put behind us when we left Vermont......SNOW

Grocery shopping at Albertsons

The snow got heavier

A view up Cerrillos from Panda Express where we had lunch

What we woke up to Saturday morning

Yogi, retired Police Dog from the City of Cincinnati. And did he ever enjoy the snow!

When it was all done, we had 8" of snow. By the next day it was all gone. Thankyou.

I frequently took advantage of the neat .75 mile trail around the campground to get in some exercise walks. It was fun counting the rabbits, trying to identify birds seen, and occasionally bumping in to an old friend, as I did one day. While walking, I noticed this guy checking out all of the old engines in the antique area. Thought he looked familiar, and when he turned around, saw that it was Pete W whom we had met at Escapees Chapter 3 Lobsterfest 2 years ago in Maine. Of course we had last seen him at the Escapade in Tucson, so this was a real surprise. And I mean a pleasant surprise. We talked a bit, and then I was back on my walk.

The trail around the park

We didn't spend all of our time in the Park, way too much to see and do in the area.

Traveling up Cerrillos to the Downtown area

The Plaza is something really special. You could spend an enjoyable day just sitting on a bench and watching the people.

One last place that we both realized we discovered too late was the Randall Davey Audubom Center and Sanctuary. We discovered it only 2 days before we were supposed to leave. We spent an enjoyable few hours there walking the trails and trying to identify the birds of the area. Had a great time. Mary and I have discovered that bird watching is something that we really enjoy doing together, plus, it is good exercise.

The Audubon Center is located off Upper Canyon Rd. Canyon Rd is THE place for Artwork in Santa Fe. Had to take a pic of some of these places that dot the hillside. Can't begin to imagine the $$$$$$

On that second last day, after we left the Audubon Center, we headed to Museum Hill where we spent some time at the Wheelwright Museum. They had quite an interesting display of Native American metal work and jewelry. Really quite interesting.

And then it was time to head back and get ready to leave. But not before making reservations for our next stay here at Santa Fe Skies. Tomorrow we head north on I 25 to Pueblo, CO and a one night stay at the KOA there. And then comes the trip through Denver to Cheyenne, WY and another one night stay at Terry Bison Ranch before heading on in to SD and our summer home- Hart Ranch RV Resort.

When we leave SD in September, we'll retrace our trip and end up back here in Santa Fe for 9 days before heading to Albuquerque and the Balloon Fiesta.
